The via ferrata of the Thaurac takes you to this impressive and exotic place. In the background, a breathtaking panorama of Saint-Bauzille-de-Putois, Ganges and the Hérault valley; prepare yourself for an experience that will leave a lasting impression!

This activity is a call to discovery and relaxation. Organise a via ferrata in the Thaurac gorges and enjoy the Occitan sun!
The departure for the via ferrata is at 9 am or at 2 pm from the car park of the grotte des Demoiselles. We also propose a departure at 6 pm to admire the sunset. A magical moment not to be missed!
After preparing the equipment, the participants leave on foot to start the via ferrata. All the equipment needed for the activity is provided by the Instructors’ Office: helmets, headlamps, harnesses, ropes, double lanyards, descenders, karabiners, pulleys, straps with shock absorbers. We advise you to take a snack with you; there will be a food break.
We will then take a path that will lead us in 15 minutes down to the beginning of the via ferrata course. The activity lasts about 4 hours and the return walk takes 10 minutes. Participants should wear comfortable sports shoes and clothing; it is important to feel comfortable in their movements.
The activity will start with the crossing from one cave to another with an impressive spider wire abseil. You will then climb two chimneys and descend a zip line. A hike will take you to some remarkable viewpoints and the ascent of the big pillar. Finally, make an incredible pendulum jump between two walls and dominate a breathtaking landscape.
From Ganges (20 mins), take the direction of Laroque / Montpellier, then, in Saint-Bauzille-de-Putois, go up in the direction of the cave of the Demoiselles (one-way road in its last section; do not go back down this section of road but continue at the other end of the car park).
From Montpellier (50 mins), follow Saint-Gély-du-Fesc, Saint-Martin-de-Londres, then Saint-Bauzille-de-Putois.
From Anduze (40 mins), pass Durfort, Saint-Hippolyte-du-Fort, take the direction of Ganges, then left Montoulieu and enter Saint-Bauzille-de-Putois.
From the Thaurac massif, discover Anduze, a typical Cevennes town. You will notice the picturesque charm of this small town in the Gard. Visit the cultural heritage; the clock tower, the covered square, the protestant temple, etc. Stroll along the Rue Droite where you will find many craftsmen and traders, then let yourself be carried away by the steep streets. Make a stop at the Cordeliers park, in the heart of the city. You will love the freshness and the varied vegetation.
Close to the via ferrata course, explore Ganges; a must during your stay in the Cévennes.
Heading south, pass through Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert, a medieval town classified as one of the most beautiful villages in France. Alternate between walks on the mountain paths and cultural visits.
The region will also enchant you with its local and high quality products. Don’t hesitate to taste the culinary specialities of the Cévennes:
– Pélardon, a goat’s cheese made only in the region;
– the chestnut is the star of the Cevennes mountains;
– Wines play an important role in the local production.
Travel through the Cévennes; you will be won over by the warm welcome of the inhabitants and the riches of this vast territory.
